additional programs
out and about program
At Alpina Street ELC our program encourages and celebrates connection with many different aspects of the natural world and local community. We believe that children should be active participants within their local and wider community. We will be using our 6-seater pram.
During the program, children and educators will partake in educational experiences with regular outings to the following sites/areas: • Local streets walk • Aldercourt Primary School and Library• Mahogany Rise Primary School and Library • Armata Reserve• Monterey Community Park Playground• Foodworks/post box Excelsior Drive• Mahogony Ave Shops and Community Centre • Pines Patch – Community Garden
Kitchen program
We provide all food for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and a late snack if required. We are vigilant around allergies and intolerances, and we avoid processed and packaged food. We do not add sugar or salt to our daily Centre made Menu. We have worked hard with Nutrition Australia and Peninsula Health to develop our well rounded Menu. Children are actively involved in menu planning, growing and harvesting herbs and vegetables, and cooking.
incursions
Throughout each year we have incursion programs that are planned for termly based on the cohort of children enrolled. We also offer more specific incursions where educators reflect on current interests of the children and areas for extension. These are booked throughout the year and can vary.
There are various types of incursions booked:Educational Workshops: Conducted by experts to teach specific skills or knowledge. Entertainment: Performances such as puppet shows, music concerts, or storytelling.Cultural Programs: Introducing children to different cultures through activities or demonstrations.
additional Supports
At our centre, we believe in working together to ensure every child, family, and educator feels supported and empowered. Beyond our daily programs, we collaborate with a wide network of professionals and agencies to provide tailored support when it’s needed most.
Family & Child Wellbeing
Maternal and Child Health Nurses – we work closely with local MCH nurses to monitor developmental milestones, provide guidance, and connect families to community resources.Specialist Services – we regularly engage with professionals such as speech pathologists, occupational therapists, and other allied health providers to support children’s individual learning and development needs.Early Intervention – when early concerns are identified, we work in partnership with families and specialists to ensure children receive timely, appropriate support. Supporting Families and Educators
Holistic Approach – we value open communication and work side-by-side with families, ensuring their voices guide decisions about their child’s learning journey.
Community Connections – by linking with local services and agencies, we make sure families and staff have access to a strong network of support.
Together, these partnerships create a nurturing environment where children thrive, families feel confident, and educators are supported to deliver high-quality education and care.
